In this article we discuss one of the features available to Premium subscribers, the "Target By Location" feature.
About The Target By Location Feature
The Target By Location feature is something we encourage Premium subscribers to use when they're looking for Instagram followers that are situated in a particular location.
How It Works
Your account manager looks for posts from other Instagrammers according to the location you specify. This helps you pick up followers from a particular location that you choose.
When You Should Use It
In general, account managers typically encourage you to use this feature only if you're looking to get followers only from a specific country, region, or city.
In particular, the target by location feature comes in handy for businesses that are looking to grow their online sales in a particular region, or if a business has a brick & mortar store that requires more foot traffic.
We only recommend instructing your account manager to target Instagrammers by their location when it really matters, as it may slow down how fast we can grow your account.
Please keep in mind that your account manager typically uses a combination of growth tactics when managing your premium account(s). In example, your account manager will also be targeting users by hashtags and targeting followers of similar Instagrammers.
When Not To Use It
Instagrammers who don't really need to have followers from one particular location are encouraged to let their account manager grow their audience through hashtag targeting and finding followers based on similar accounts.
While it's certainly a big bonus to pick up followers from a particular area, instructing your account manager to only find followers according to the locations you specify may slow down how quickly we can find you new followers.
This is because your account manager first has to identify posts from your specified area, check out the profile to see if they're a target audience match, gauge whether they're likely to follow you or not - and then engage with your prospective follower (i.e. like their post on your behalf). As you can imagine, this may take significantly more time than finding you new followers based on the hashtags they use.
Targeting Instagrammers by their location is still something we recommend you use if the location of your followers really matters to you or your business.
Combining Hashtags With A Location
To make life for your account manager a little more efficient, we highly recommend you help him/her identify hashtags that include your desired location.
We recommend you try combine your desired location with the niche you're trying to grow in.
For example: Sally has a shop that sells baby and children gear in California. So she would combine her location (California) with her target audience (mothers):
Selecting relevant hashtags combined with a location really helps your account manager find followers according to their location, without necessarily sacrificing speed.
Select Similar Accounts That Are Location Specific
By choosing accounts similar to yours that is focused on a particular area, your account manager can find relevant followers faster for you. In this case, it's also recommended to choose accounts that may complement yours.
For example: You may run a women's fashion store in the center of Copenhagen (Denmark!). In this case, we recommended that a user chose Instagram accounts of famous fashion magazines catering to women.
If you're struggling to think of how to apply these two alternatives, please get in touch with us through a support ticket. We're always happy to help you get creative with your account manager!
